Four Rivers was visited by the National Tree Seed Centre’s Director, Donnie McPhee, in early September to discuss their Indigenous Seed Collection Program to support future community seed collection projects to better preserve and protect species of interest to our communities. The goal is to build capacity in seed collection, processing of seeds, as well as long-term seed storage for plant species that are of cultural, medicinal, spiritual, and economic importance to each community. Four Rivers looks forward to expanding these conversations as part of emerging community Guardians programs, as community’s build capacity to monitor the lands and waters of their homelands.
